These gorgeous antique textiles from South America provide fantastic inspiration for both pattern and color. I can imagine these patterns reinterpreted in peyote stitch - the geometric nature of the patterns are well suited to that bead stitch. I love the earthy colors in all these examples - I imagine the dyes used in these textiles were all made from plants and minerals found locally, and although they have probably faded, they are still beautiful and eye catching.
All the photos below are examples of Andean textiles. I particularly love the little four cornered hats - they remind me of little castles, and are absolutely charming.
